The incident occurred in Wilton on Thursday, March 21 at the intersection of of Danbury Road and Grumman Hill Road.

When police arrived, they found that a black 2013 Chevrolet Camaro had been rear-ended by a black 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, said Lt. Anna Tornello of the Wilton Police.

During an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, identified as Bogdan Grynchak, age 39, of Redding, was exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment, Tornello said.

A field sobriety test was administered, which Tornello said he failed to perform to standard.

Grynchak was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

During processing a receipt was located in Grynchak's pocket which documented several alcoholic beverages that were purchased at a bar before the accident, police said.

Grynchak had a passenger who appeared severely intoxicated and was transported to Norwalk Hospital for medical evaluation without injuries, Tornello said.

The driver of the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro refused medical evaluation on the scene.

Grynchak was released on a $250 bond.

During processing Grynchak refused chemical testing, and was also issued a criminal appearance bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 2.
